Obama shoulders responsibility

Whatever you may think about President Obama's handling of the economy, foreign relations, or the war on terror, yesterday he stepped up to the plate and acted like a leader. He gave a broad outline (which was all he should have given) of what went wrong and what will be done to fix the problems. And that's where it gets sticky. I've been doing a little research on those handy-dandy full-body scanners that everyone's talking about, and I like the idea of using them less now than I did before. In a couple of days I'll go into some of the problems with them. But aside from the full body scanners, it looks like President Obama is taking this threat to our security seriously now and taking real steps to keep us safe from external threats.  That is his primary job as President.

  1. that speech was far overdue and very unimpressive. sounded like a skinny punk trying to wield a big stick. i'm not buying anything this joker says. just more empty words and lies!!!

  2. I agree that it was overdue, and it wasn't extremely aggressive. I also agree that a lot of it was pure rhetoric. But the fact that it was made shows that someone in the Obama administration is beginning to recognize that they cannot ignore the threat of terrorism inside the U.S. And that is a hopeful sign.

  3. Wow....a local blogger who doesn't tell his readers that our President is a communist, or a socialist, or a terrorist sympatrhizer, or a Nazi, or any other recycled Limbaugh stupidity! Unlike a Certain Other Blog this paper offers.

    Way to go, Bert!

  4. Well, I don't agree with a lot of his politics, but I generally hope that our leaders are well intentioned. And unless he goes way out there, I have to respect Obama for both the office he holds, and the accomplishment of getting there.

Also, this is primarily an information blog. That other blog is primarily opinion. That means I feel a duty to provide at least a little support for most of what I say. I have a political opinion blog on blogger, but I haven't had time for it in a couple of years.
